Edna H. Roser

Edna H. Roser went to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, January 9, 2008 at Cypress Cove Care Center, Crystal River, Florida.

She was born May 31, 1917 in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of Pearl S. and Catherine J. (Baresel) Talley and was a 1935 graduate of North High School. On June 12, 1937 she married Harold Kenneth Roser who died in 1966. Prior to her retirement, she was an assistant buyer at the downtown M. O'Neil Company for over 28 years. A member of East Market Street United Church of Christ, United Spanish War Veterans Auxiliary and Woman's Federation, she loved her church, family, friends, flowers and music. The music supervisor on her first day of school in 1923, discovered her lyric soprano voice. Vocal lessons and singing was a passion through her school years and performing semi-professionally.

Surviving are a son, Kenneth (Sandra) Roser of Uniontown, Ohio and Crystal River, Fla.; daughters, Vivian (Ronald) Long of Pembroke Pines, Fla., and Carole Christen of Defiance, Ohio; five grandchildren, Kevin Roser, Brian Wagster, Kelly Simmons, Ross Christen and Laura Long; three great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, a beloved brother, Dwight M. Talley and a son-in-law, Robert Christen.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 7 p.m. (with Order of The Eastern Star Services at 6 p.m.), and Thursday from 12 to 1 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to East Market Street Church of Christ or Citrus County Florida Hospice.
