| Ervin (Olie) Schrock
Ervin (Olie) Schrock passed away December 23, 2008, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, Port Charlotte, Fla. He fought a brave battle against dementia and Alzheimers disease for four years. He was born in Grantsville, Md. on January 2, 1919, to Lulu (Jenkins) and Ervin Schrock. Olie lived most of his life in Akron, Ohio and will be missed by friends there as well as in Florida were he and his wife have made their home since he retired in 1980. He worked as a machinist at Goodyear Aerospace for 39 years. He was a gentle man and loved all things of nature and had many pet dogs over the years. He graduated form North High School in Akron, where his present wife, two daughters and two grandchildren also graduated. He served in the 8th Air Force during World War ll and was stationed in Polebrook, England where he carried out 25 missions as a radio operator, having once had to ditch their plane in the English Channel. He had many fascinating tales to tell about his two years in the military. As a veteran, he qualified for having care for the last five months at the Douglas T. Jacobson State Veterans' Nursing Home in Port Charlotte. The family extends thanks for the loving care given to him by the staff at the V.A. home. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Ruth: daughters, Marnay Schrock, Cathy Cooke, Carol Ulery; and son, Jim Pantea, all of whom live in Ohio; one sister, Mary Bradford of Michigan; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded by his parents; brother, Martin; and first wife, Coletta; also surviving are three grandchildren, Brad, Alicia and Collen and two great-grandchildren, Coldon and Mia. Cremation will take place and burial will be in Ohio
