Sylvester E. Rasicci

Sylvester E. Rasicci, 84, passed away Oct. 19, 2008.

He was born in Akron where he lived all of his life, retiring after over 38 years of service for B.F. Goodrich Tire and Rubber Co. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 3rd Armored Division, 7th Corp 1st Army. Sly enjoyed vegetable gardening and watching sports. He played fast pitch softball in his younger years and slow pitch in the Goodrich Intramural League. He was a very generous and friendly man who enjoyed telling stories.

Preceded in death by his parents, Alfonso and Luigia Rasicci; sister, Edith Hipply; and brother, Arthur Rasicci; Sly is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Dora; sons, Father Michael (Linda) Rasicci and Pat (Justine) Rasicci; grandchildren, Andy, Veronica, Valerie, Dustin, Chanel, Lisa, Annette and Kristi; several great-grandchildren; brother, Albert (Gloria) Rasicci; sisters-in-law, Helen Rasicci and Mary Etta D'Antonio; brother-in-law, Joe Hipply; nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Hennessy Funeral Home (corner of York and Main), 552 N. Main St., Akron, with Father Michael Rasicci officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Donations may be made to North Akron Catholic Schools, St. Jude Research Hospital or the charity of your choice in Sylvester's name.
